Govt to file affidavit on shrine Act by December 12

The Supreme Court on Monday sought the Centre's response to a bunch of PILs challenging the validity of the Places of Worship Act, 1991 on the ground that it imposed status quo retrospectively since August 15, 1947, on the nature of religious structures. Subramanian Swamy added a new dimension by seeking Ayodhya-like exemption to disputed sites at Kashi and Mathura under the Act.
